Technical Product Specialist

GLP German Light Products, based in Van Nuys, California are looking for someone to join the company in the role of Marketing Manager.  This position will be based out of our Van Nuys, California office

GLP are one of the worlds’ leading manufacturers of automated entertainment lighting, supplying products that ultimately end up on film and television sets, live concerts, theatre stages, and much more across the country.

Organizational Placement

The Technical Product Specialist reports to the Sales and Marketing Director.

The Marketing Manager also has direct communication with the Sales Department, Financial Department, Technical Department, and Logistics Department on a daily basis for practical working methods.

Areas of Responsibility

Technical product management for all GLP US Inc. lighting brands and products

Tasks

• Having a full understanding and working knowledge of all products
• Training sales staff in the operation and demonstration of all products
• Providing product training and education to customers on new and legacy products  
• Representing the company on visits to shows and events, or other outside visits to liaise with customers and users about their experiences
• Programming fixtures and consoles for events and exhibitions, and assist in show design
• Maintaining inventory for necessary equipment
• Ensuring that issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner
• Ensuring that products are presented and demonstrated in the best manner possible at exhibitions, and therefore being active in the design, programming, preparation and execution of company events
• Assisting sales team with technical information and product demonstrations as necessary
• Preparing and keep records pertaining to labor, equipment, and materials used in assigned projects
• Responding to technical questions over the phone and e-mail in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring a response that leads to customer satisfaction
• Supporting product development teams by providing serviceability point of view and input from customer
• Managing and maintaining web-based database of technical documentation
• Testing new products and communicating results to appropriate personnel
• Assisting Marketing team to ensure that products are marketed and presented in the best way possible
• Gathering  customer and user feedback and feed it to the correct colleagues to ensure that appropriate action is taken
• Working in a timely fashion to ensure customer requests are met accordingly
• Actively present products to lighting designers and users.
• Maintaining a complete overview and understanding of competitive products
• Executing special projects and requests in a timely and positive fashion

Qualifications & Demands

• Strong communication, organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in computer technology (Mac, Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.)
• MS Office Suite proficiency (Excel, Word, Teams)
• Positive attitude and exceptional customer service skills
• Able to use hand tools, power tools, and electronic measuring devices
• Able to drive automobile and have an acceptable driving record
• Able to obtain and keep a valid passport
• Able to think quickly, creatively, objectively and decisively
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, or independently and perform multiple tasks without general supervision
• Ability to multi-task between projects and manage priorities
• Ability to solve problems of moderate scope
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical documents
• Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment
• Adheres to safety standards at all times, ensuring that safe methods and practices are used
• Exquisite attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Compensation

• Compensation is $60k - 75k annually
